Retreats
A flyer and registration form for each retreat will be made available as the programming for that retreat is finalized, typically 45 days prior to the event. With some exceptions, all but $10 of the registration fee may be substituted with 10 hours of work exchange. Italicized Retreat Titles indicated events sponsored with or by other organizations.
Shaman's Journey (Fall).
This intensive retreat to explore practical shamanic techniques will be limited to small group participation. A caravan will leave OA roundtrip for Hot Springs, AR to mine quartz crystal.
Ostara Awakening. March
We celebrate the Spring equinox by focusing on healing and personal growth. Look for workshops on growth and balance in all areas of your personal and magickal life. The weather may be a little cool still for camping, so pack appropriately. Children are welcome and can expect egg dyeing, egg hunting and a visit from the Great Bunny. The Saturday night feast is pot luck: please share your favorite dish.
Meals included except for potluck, alcohol in moderation, family retreat: children welcome.
Blessings of Beltane. May
Celebrate the beauty and fertility of nature in the meadows and woods of Ozark Avalon with a grand fertility ritual, Maypole dancing, garlands, a grand procession, and the crowning of a May Queen. The Saturday evening Sensual Feast is potluck -- all other meals are included. This is an adults only event.
All meals included except potluck, adults-only retreat.
Heartland Support. May
In support of the Gaea Defense Fund, Ozark Avalon members will be attending Heartland.
Wild Faerie Midsummer. June
Wild Faerie Midsummer is a rare chance to explore the Faerie realm at a time of high magic. In addition to learning opportunities this weekend will feature camping, swimming, and guided walks around the rarely seen areas of the land. There will also be rituals to interact with Fae and special guests to be announced.
Meals included, alcohol in moderation, family retreat: children welcome.
Interdependance Day. July
Local musicians will be performing live for a party to celebrate our interdependence with each other and all our relations and our precious planet earth. Please bring musical instruments (jam session with musicians, sound system provided), a contribution to the potluck, and fireworks. Throughout the weekend: All other meals are included and workshops featuring arts and crafts are planned. There may be materials fees (max $5) with some workshops. Children are welcome. There will be an all species parade to honor our animal spirits -- please bring musical instruments, animal costumes and masks.
Harvest Gathering. August/September
This is the traditional Ozark Avalon family reunion. Join OAK Spirits and friends from the four directions for our annual church meeting. General workshops on various aspects of the craft will be presented and there will be many rituals celebrating our harvests.
Embracing the Dark. October/November
The Samhain season is the time of transition, crossing and reincarnation: a retreat for Pagans dealing with death and rebirth on a personal level, a healing time to visit with those who have passed and a celebration of the cycle of life and the new year. Saturday night after worship circle is a Feast of the Dead potluck: bring the favorite dish of your beloved dead.
Meals included except for potluck, alcohol in moderation, adults-only retreat.
Howl-at-Yule: a Chorus. December
This is a seasonal celebration of candy dipping, turkey roasting and sugar plums by the score. We value this time of sharing with our extended family. This is the winter feast holiday at Ozark Avalon. The traditional Yule tree scrapes the ceiling and the Yule log from last year's tree burns warm though the long night, its ashes to join the ashes of many years past. An outdoor ritual will help bring back the light and we will howl up the coyotes. Father Yule is expected make an appearance.
Meals included, alcohol in moderation, family retreat: children welcome.

Our feeling on the war is that we should express anger rather than rage; that we seek justice rather than revenge. |
